Champion Hurdle 2007 Result
The result of the 2007 Champion Hurdle was somewhat of a shock to both the punters and to connections when 16/1 Sublimity took the honours ahead of the 2006 winner, Brave Inca. The horse however was clearly the best in the race on the day and proved too strong for the ever battling Brave Inca, this year ridden by Ruby Walsh. Another outsider, Afsoun, ridden by Mick Fitzgerald came home third and another epic performance from Hardy Eustace saw him come home fourth.
The favourite, Detroit City was backed down to 6/4 on the day and it looked likely that Bookmakers would be bracing themselves to take a big hit. However it was they that were smiling, Detroit City did not even make the frame, finishing a disappointing 6th, with trainer, Philip Hobbs claiming after the race that he was not right. Jockey, Richard Johnson also felt the same. Sublimity and jockey Philip Carberry proved that odds of 16/1 can be carried to win even in the prestigious races.
- 1st - Sublimity 16/1
- 2nd - Brave Inca 11/2
- 3rd - Afsoun 28/1
