Hurricane Fly has long bee touted for big things and this could be the season he realises that with a huge run in the Champion Hurdle expected. He is a horse that has all the class in the world and he showed that when beating Solwhit on seasonal debut in the Hatton's Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse. It was his first run since winning the Rabobank Champion Hurdle at Punchestown in April but he looked in top shape as he cruised passed fellow Champion Hurdle contender Solwhit after the final fence.

It is expected that Hurricane Fly will come on for his run at Fairyhouse and that makes him a genuine contender for the 2011 Champion Hurdle, he is likely to be the leader of the Irish Team in Cheltenham and along with Menorah, Binocular and Peddlers Cross it could be classic race. Hurricane Fly has further enhanced his claim with an even more impressive win in the Festival Hurdle at Leopardstown over Christmas, he beat Solwhit again but with much more ease this time to see his price cut further. It was a quick return to the track but he looked even better and in truth was hardly off the bridle as he won with something in hand crossing the line.

Hurricane Fly confirmed once and for all that he was the best 2 mile hurdler in Ireland when he won the Irish Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown recently. He once again defeated Solwhit in some style to claim the win for Willie Mullins and he will now go direct to the Festival with big claims. There are some doubts about the form of his many wins over Solwhit against the English challengers but he is clearly full of class and if he remains fit he has a massive chance of running a big race.
