Champion Hurdle Top Jockey's

Champion Hurdle Top JockeysBelow is a list of some of the very best jockey's in the country who will be riding in the big race. Very often jockey bookings are a big indication of who has the more fancied rides and will help you when making a Champion Hurdle Free bet.

  • Tony McCoy - The Champion jockey will have a number of choices for his Champion Hurdle ride. He is regarded by many as the best National Hunt jockey ever and has been Champion jockey every season since 1995/6. He will certainly be amongst the favourites in the betting for top jockey at the Cheltenham Festival

  • Ruby Walsh - One of the great horsemen, Ruby Walsh is the retained jockey of the UK's National Hunt Champion trainer, Paul Nicholls. He is a great friend of Tony McCoy but he is also his fiercest rival.

  • Robert 'Chocolate' Thornton' - Top jockey from last year, Chocolate rode four winners, mostly for trainer, Alan King; this included Katchit, who won this race in 2008 at odds of 10./1 and may well ride him again in 2010. Check out the 2010 Champion Hurdle Odds.

  • Richard Johnson - Rides for the Philip Hobbs yard and is the only jockey, currently riding who has won all the big races at the Festival. This obviously includes the Champion Hurdle in 2003, when he came home on the brilliant Rooster Booster.

  • Barry Geraghty - One of Ireland's top jockey's, he has a great record at Cheltenham Festival having had 14 winners here. He also won the Champion Hurdle in 2009 on Punjabi and he will be back in 2010 with another great chance, he also won the Cheltenham Gold Cup on Kicking King in 2005.

  • Tom Scudamore - Stable jockey of the all powerful, David Pipe stable. He was second in the race in 2008, on the front running Osana, but failed narrowly to get the better of the winner, Katchit.
