Champion Hurdle Contenders 2011 - Oscar Whisky

Oscar Whisky has crept into the Champion Hurdle betting slowly this season but as we head towards the festival few are being talked about as much as the Nicky Henderson horse. Last season we saw Oscar Whisky come in 4th place in the Supreme Novices Hurdle which turned out to be a cracking renewal behind the likes of Menorah and Dunguib, but it is this season that we have seen a vast improvement in him. He made his seasonal debut at Cheltenham on New Year's Day when he won the Cheltenham and Three Counties Club hurdle over 2m 4f with the likes of Karabak and Celestial Halo in behind him.

That win served notice of his potential and that has been confirmed with his win in the Welsh Champion Hurdle last time out at Ffos Las, the Welsh race had been his main target and he scored without coming off the bridle to show his class. That win at Ffos Las proves he has the speed needed for the 2 mile trip at Cheltenham and a fast run pace at the Festival should play straight into his hands.
